In need of a new sweater or two for the school year? Look no further! Here’s my list of the best and affordable sweaters perfect for teachers!
I don’t know about you, but when I have a good-fitting sweater, my day seems to go better. I even feel like my life is put together (even when it’s not!). Even if you’re not a teacher, I think this round-up works for anyone who needs to add an affordable addition for sweater weather.
The eternal question of what to wear
The eternal question of what to wear to work during these Fall and Winter months so you feel put together, but not spend a too much of your paycheck? Each of these sweaters work well for teachers because they are all comfortable (a must for me!) and beautiful. They’re also not too heavy or thick so you can teach in them all day without getting too toasty. Also, each one is beautiful and feminine, and, importantly, affordable!
Not only am I a teacher, I’m also a mom.
That means that the clothes I wear to work need to withstand getting my toddler ready for her day. This also means that my clothes and outfits need to be low maintenance.
Sweaters and blouses are the two things I do try and hang dry. I learned this the hard way when this sweater made it into my dryer. It shrunk so much that I’m pretty sure my daughter will be able to wear it soon and she’s one and a half. But it was the *perfect* shade of grey and soooo soft so I ended up buying another. I own a few more in other colors because it’s that just good. So, with all of that said, even though this list is for teachers, I feel like if any article of clothing passes the teacher test, it’s going to be an “old reliable” for anyone!
The key to the best sweaters to teach in…
For me the key to a good sweater is comfort (not scratchy!), breathability, I want to feel put together in it, the color or pattern needs to be pretty, and the price tag. I live in the PNW so right now the weather is all over the place. The running sentiment is that we can experience all four seasons in one day. Therefore, what I wear to work needs to be versatile enough to handle this all-over-the-place weather as well as a job where I’m on my feet all day long.
Some of my favorite items to wear along with these!
What I love about each of these sweaters is you can wear them most of the school year. I like to pair them with a pair of cropped jeans and Birkenstocks. I’m also a fan of wearing them with a skirt, or over a jumpsuit. For V-neck cardigans (like this one and this one), I like to swap out a basic tee for a body suit. I know there are a ton of good bodysuits out there, but this is the only brand I’ve tried and I’m a big fan (if you have any that you like, let me know in the comments!).
