5 Tips For Keeping Toys Organized
Keeping toddler toys organized can been overwhelming, but here are a few helpful tips!
- #1: Remember, less is more! The fewer toys you have, the more likely your toddler is to play with them! This also makes it so much easier to keep toys organized and spaces neat and tidy. And you know how you feel when a space is simplified versus when it’s messy and chaotic? Your little one will feel that way too.
- #2: Cycle toys out. Keep a select few toys in your toy area. If your toddler is losing interest in a toy, put it away for a couple of weeks and then bring it back out. Or if you just celebrated a birthday or holiday and you have a surplus of toys put a couple out at a time and keep the others stored away.
- #3: If your toddler has never started playing with a toy… sometimes it’s because your little one isn’t developmentally ready for a toy. Put it away for a couple of weeks, and then bring it back out.
- #4: Utilize clean up time. Whenever play time (or color-time or whatever-the-activity-is-time) is over have your toddler help you clean up. One of the amazing things about toddler is they love to get involved and help out. It may take longer, but this is an investment as they are learning the important skill of cleaning up after themselves. This can also help them learn names of objects, colors, and numbers. For example, when they are helping you pick up you can say, “can you please grab that yellow block for me?” or “looks like you have three more red blocks and two blue blocks to pick up”.
- #5: Use storage bins, containers or baskets like the ones below. These can be stored in a handy cube shelf or own the floor.
